Born in 1996, Martin James Bartlett has phenomenal technique and has earned acclaim for performing with a talent and grace far beyond his years.Since winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year award in 2014, he has performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she has appeared at the Proms, and has become a pianist of great promise, having been invited by András Schiff to participate in a master class at the Verbier Festival during the 2018/19 season. His extremely dynamic expression on Bartlett's debut album is a perfect example of the album's subject matter, "Love and Death." According to Bartlett, the album's starting point is Schumann-Liszt's "Dedication," a piece that speaks not only of love but also of death (the last part of the piece quotes Schubert's "Ave Maria").The album is a unified whole, immersing the listener in the dense world of "Love and Death. The album is a unified work, immersing the listener in the intense world of Bach's works with their longing for prayer and death, Liszt's three introspective "Petrarch Sonnets" and the well-known "Dream of Love," Granados and Wagner's works (both arranged by Liszt) with their titles directly referring to love and death, and finally Prokofiev's Sonata No. 7, with its quotation from Schumann's song.
