While keeping grime—the London street sound characterized by fast BPMs, deep bass, and rapid-fire rapping, influenced by Jamaican and Caribbean sounds—at the core, he weaves in gospel-style choruses, soulful tracks, and at times, compelling slow-tempo narration, creating an album that leaves a powerful impact on listeners with its overwhelming presence and weighty storytelling. The album features a star-studded lineup of guests, including Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy, as well as H.E.R., YEBBA, Aitch, Tiana Major 9, and Headie One—all exciting musicians from his generation—while the production credits include Fred Gibson, Fraser T. Smith, and T-Minus. To date, STORMZY has released four of the album’s 16 tracks. The first single from the album, “Vossi Bop,” released this past April, set a record for a UK rapper with over 12.7 million streams in its debut week, earning him his first UK No. 1 single (and holding the spot for two consecutive weeks!). This was followed by the release of the majestic “Crown,” featuring backing vocals, and then “WileyFlow,” a tribute to the “Godfather of Grime,” Wiley.
