Description:

Nigel Kennedy, Guinness World Records Certified Album "The Four Seasons" 30th Anniversary BOXNigel Kennedy is regarded as one of the world's leading violin virtuosos and is one of Britain's proudest prodigies. He began studying violin at the age of six at Yehudi Menuhin's Conservatory, where he met jazz violinist Stefan Grappelli, who introduced him to jazz at the age of 15. He made his professional debut in 1977 at the Royal Festival Hall in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti. In 1989, his performance of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," released by the former EMI, was so critically acclaimed for its virtuosity, singular talent, and innovative interpretation that it was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest-selling classical work of all time, selling more than 2 million copies. When I heard Vivaldi's Four Seasons for the first time, I thought, "What a boring piece of music.Because it was played in a way that would make anyone yawn. When I was playing this song at a concert in Spain, I suddenly realized that there was tremendous energy flowing here, beautiful melodies, and intense contrasts. This song has everything to stamp me as a musician," Kennedy himself said. This box commemorates the 30th anniversary of Nigel Kennedy's Guinness-certified album "The Four Seasons," and includes concertos from the seven albums he released from 1984, when he signed an exclusive contract with the former EMI, to 1989's "The Four Seasons.
