Augustin Harderich and Yakub Hrusha perform the epic Dvorak in Bohemia. In 1999, after an unfortunate incident in which he suffered severe burns over 60% of his body, the miracle violinist overcame more than 20 surgeries and rehabilitation with great mental strength to make an amazing comeback. Augustin Harderich won the Indianapolis International Violin Competition in 2006 and the Grammy Award for "Best Classical Instrumental Soloist" in 2016. Her technique is free from any ambiguity, and her compositional skills, poetic delicacy, and gorgeous sound have always been highly acclaimed around the world. This album features "Dvorak: Violin Concerto" with Czech conductor Jakub Hrusha, and works for violin and piano by two composers, also from the Czech Republic, Janacek and Josef Suk, exploring the music of rich melodies. When these three composers were born (Dvorak in 1841, Janacek in 1854, and Suk in 1874), the land known as the Kingdom of Bohemia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.Dismantled at the end of World War I in 1918, the Czechoslovak Republic was born, and in the late 19th century many non-German composers had a special interest in using the language, stories, landscapes, and folk music of their homeland to create their own musical styles.
