Description:
A rare album of chamber works by Dvorak and Korngold by the talented young French cellist Edgar Moreau and his brothers Edgar Moreau, a young French cellist, released his debut album "PLAY" on Erato in 2014, when he was still in his teens It was when he was still a teenager, but it was highly acclaimed for its "deep singing, sharpness of technique, and vivid contrasts." But Edgar is not the only outstanding musician in the family. In this program with Dvorak and Korngold, he is joined by his sister, violinist Raphael (appointed concert mistress of the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchestra at age 21!) ), her brother, violinist David, and her pianist brother Jeremy. Our parents were music lovers, and our mother turned us all on to music at an early age. After that, we all chose to devote ourselves to it.The album focuses on Dvorak's "Five Bagatelles" for two violins, cello and piano, composed in the late 1870s, and Korngold's "Suite" for the same ensemble. The Moreau brothers are accustomed to playing two or three instrumental works together, but as David points out, "Two violins, piano, and cello is an unusual combination. These are great pieces that are rarely played, so I thought this would spotlight them. Playing as a family is not something we do very often, but there is an almost intuitive feel to it, a very quick progression, a spontaneity. The fact that we don't have to look at each other and can breathe together in a particular way is a very powerful point," they said. Both composers share the fact that they were born in what is now the Czech Republic and came to the United States. Dvorak was born near Prague in 1841 and Korngold in Brno in 1897.Both made their reputation in Vienna, but in the 1890s Dvořák was the director of the New York National Conservatory of Music, and in the 1930s Korngold was composing sumptuous film music for Hollywood and was forced into long-term exile when Germany annexed Austria in 1938. He was forced into long-term exile when Germany annexed Austria in 1938. The relationship that both left central Europe to make a living in the United States is important because of the implications of opening up to a new world. The piano part of Korngold's "Suite" is for the left hand only; at its premiere in 1930, the pianist was Paul Wittgenstein. He lost his right hand in World War I and was one of many major composers commissioned to compose the piece. This album includes two well-known arias, interspersed with arranged versions for cello and piano from the composer's most famous operas. Warner Music Japan
