Limited edition analog LP release! Duvier and Taro have meticulously curated a program featuring songs related to “love,” “struggle,” and “death,” selected from the works of composers representative of this era—Fauré, Poulenc, Ravel, and Debussy. The album features a diverse selection of works, ranging from well-known, charming songs like Fauré’s “Chanson d’amour” (Song of Love)—which gives the album its title—and Poulenc’s “Le petit chemin de l’amour” (The Little Path of Love), to Ravel’s “Five Greek Folk Songs,” and Debussy’s “Forgotten Little Songs”—song cycles that the duo were determined to include—this diverse collection is packed with the “feelings they want to express right now,” and listeners are sure to embark on a variety of musical journeys simply by listening. Duvier’s soft, nuanced voice not only fully conveys the delicate atmosphere of French art songs, but is also perfectly complemented by Taro’s piano, which at times gently and at other times freely carries the melody. We selected each piece not only for the breadth of the repertoire but also with the aim of achieving both diversity and surprise. “Debussy and Ravel are essentials for me; Fauré was a natural choice as my spiritual father; and Poulenc offers something spicier and edgier. The timbres created by Taro’s piano convey a variety of meanings—conversation, melancholy, rebellion, and more. “With this album, we savor poetry; French songs possess countless hues, and it was our mission to bring out those colors,” says Duvier.
