Description:
ELDERBROOK is a producer, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist making waves in the UK electro scene. Drawing on the experience gained through collaborations with CAMELPHAT, DIPLO, and RUDIMENTAL—and channeling his growth as an artist into his own musical style—he has released his long-awaited full-length album, featuring euphoric electro sounds and delicate storytelling! ELDERBROOK is a British producer, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Having garnered attention in the electro and dance scenes since around 2015, he is finally releasing his long-awaited full-length album! ELDERBROOK (real name: Alexander Kotz) began making music in his teens. He initially played in indie bands, but eventually shifted to songwriting as a singer-songwriter. Around 2015, he began releasing tracks and EPs, as well as creating remixes for artists like CLEANBANDIT. He also toured as a live artist, serving as a support act for various artists such as GORGONCITY. It was in 2017 that he suddenly captured the scene’s attention with “Cola,” a collaboration track with the UK house duo CAMELPHAT. The track, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club chart and the UK Indie Chart, became ELDERBROOK’s first major hit, entering the Top 20 on the UK Singles Chart, and was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Having consistently released singles and EPs since then, he is finally releasing his full-length album, *WHYDOWESHAKEINTHECOLD?*. Last year, he released the dance hit “Something About You,” a collaboration with RUDIMENTAL, and this year he has been releasing tracks one after another, including the emotional “Numb” and “My House,” the latest single and a lead single from the album. “My House,” produced by JackKnifeLee, was reportedly created during the nationwide lockdown in the UK aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. When he first began writing the song, he envisioned something like CSN&Y’s “Our House,” but once he started producing it, the theme took a completely different direction. “This song focuses on how many people are always craving ‘the next big thing, the next best thing’ and are never satisfied with what they already have. It also points out how many people continue to act like children. "You know, all that 'want-it-all culture'—starting with 'My house is bigger than yours.' Another theme in this song is based on my own childhood experiences and the feeling of not fitting in anywhere.” (1/2)
