Echo & The Bunnymen
Description:
They released the "Shine So Hard" EP, recorded live at Buxton's Pavillion Gardens in 1981, the same year they released their second album, Heaven Up Here. Produced by Hugh Jones and featuring songs such as "A Promise," "Over The Wall," and "Show Of Strength," HEAVEN UP HERE was the first UK Top 10 album for Echo & The Bunnymen, and won NME magazine's Best Album of 1981 award. Heaven Up Here," produced by Hugh Jones and featuring songs such as "A Promise," "Over The Wall," and "Show Of Strength," was considered a slightly darker album than its predecessor, but it was well received by fans, critics, and the media. In 1983, the band entered the mainstream with their third album, "PORCUPINE," produced by Ian Broudie. The album, which spawned the #8 UK single "The Cutter," was not only certified as a gold album in the UK, but also became the band's highest charting album, reaching #2 on the UK Albums Chart. The album is widely recognized as their masterpiece. The following year, 1984, saw the release of their fourth album, "OCEAN RAIN," which many people call a masterpiece. Recorded in Liverpool and Paris, it featured a 35-piece orchestra conducted by Adam Peters. The dark and ethereal album spawned "Silver," "Seven Seas," and the UK rock anthem "The Killing Moon," which reached #9 in the UK. The striking album cover was shot by photographer Brian Griffin at Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall. In 1987, Ian left the band after "ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN". Five years later, Ian and Will reunited and released "BURNED" as Electrafiction. In 1997, Echo & the Bunnymen made a complete comeback with "EVERGREEN," and since then they have consistently released albums and participated in Summer Sonic in 2005. They are still active today. In the spring of 2022, they announced a tour of the UK and Ireland. This retrospective work, "Songs to Learn and Sing," traces the trajectory of Echo & the Bunnymen.
