Her father is Ivan Kotov, a well-known double bass player. She studied at the Moscow Conservatory and attracted attention when she won the Prague International Competition in 1985. After the sudden death of her father at the age of 35, she moved to the West to continue her studies in music, and at the same time began modeling for a living in New York, where she became a top model and worked as an exclusive model for brands such as Armani and Chanel. In 1996, after her debut recital in London, she quit modeling to concentrate on her musical career, which has taken her to Europe and the United States. She has released several albums, and her performance of Dvořák's Cello Concerto was acclaimed for its "boldness of conception and expressiveness!
