A new masterpiece! The Prague Symphony Orchestra led by Tomáš Brauner recorded Dvořák's Slavonic Dances, his masterpiece! The Prague Symphony Orchestra, led by Tomáš Braunel, has recorded Dvořák's complete Slavonic Dances! The Slavonic Dances were composed by the Berlin publisher Fritz Zimrock, who commissioned a work in the same vein as Brahms' Hungarian Dances. The original piece was intended for piano duet. Within hours, Dvořák sketched the first series of Slavonic Dances, and within about three weeks, he had completed a series of eight versions of the pieces. At the same time, he composed them for orchestration. This was published as the first collection of Slavonic Dances. The publication of the first collection was a great success, and he composed eight more Slavonic dances. This was published as the second collection. Within a year of its publication, the Slavonic Dances were performed in Prague, New York, Boston, London, Berlin, and Dresden. The Prague Symphony Orchestra has performed this masterpiece under such conductors as Bělohlávek, Mackerras, Neumann, and Netopil.The performance with Tomáš Braunel, who will be the orchestra's principal conductor beginning in the 2020/2021 season, features a rounded, transparent sound in the tradition of the orchestra.
