The Prague Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Václav Smetacek, re-releases its masterpieces, Dvořák's Mass in D major, Biblical Lieder, and Te Deum! The Prague Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Václav Smetacek, is pleased to announce the re-release of Dvořák's masterpieces, Mass in D major, the first five pieces from the Biblical Songs, and Te Deum! Dvořák was a man of faith, and his works based on the Bible, including religious and church music, were among his most cherished. The "Mass in D major" was commissioned by Josef Haláwka, Dvořák's patron and a prominent architect, for the inauguration of his chapel. The "Biblical Lieder" is a collection of 10 pieces adapted from Dvořák's favorite Psalms and translated into Czech. The "Te Deum" is a magnificent cantata composed for the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America. Like the other two works, it is colored with beautiful melodies typical of Dvořák. This is a monumental masterpiece featuring the best solo singers at the time of recording. King International
