The young Neumann, his passionate playing vividly revived in this collection of rare early recordings of Václav Neumann (1920-1995), the greatest conductor ever born in the Czech Republic. Most of the recordings are on CD for the first time, allowing us to enjoy his art from his youthful performances in his early thirties to his successor as chief conductor of the Czech Philharmonic in 1968, when he succeeded Ančerl. The earliest is Tchaikovsky's complete Four Seasons, which he conducted with the Film Symphony Orchestra in 1953. It is interesting to note that the orchestrations are by Czech composer Václav Troyán, rather than Gauck's arrangements, which have been recorded on several occasions, and is a must for Tchaikovsky fans. Dvořák is a favorite of the orchestra, and his early symphonies and other relatively rare works are also welcome. It is also a pleasure to hear Mahler with Vera Soukpová as the solo singer. You can fully enjoy Mahler by Neumann & Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.The orchestra is from the string country of the Czech Republic, and the rich sound of all the pieces is mesmerizing, but Grieg's taste is particularly exceptional. This is one of the best performances of this piece. The reissue from the original masters has greatly improved the sound quality. The kitteh sound of the Boshkovets' "Silentium Turbatum," which includes an electric guitar solo, is astonishing, and the young Neumann's passionate conducting comes through with tremendous energy.
