Description:
Streinzl & Musica Florea "Great Bach of Bohemia" Zelenka's religious works! Zelenka (1679-1745) was one of the leading Bohemian composers of the Baroque era. With the recent reappraisal of his works, Streinzl & Musica Florea, which also released Zelenka's celebrated opera "St. Wenceslas Melodrama" (SU 4113), has again released a new album of Zelenka's works! This time the collection includes religious works composed in the late 1720s. The works were composed during the most active period of his life, and the album is full of Zelenka's unique charm. In the Magnificat in C major, the beautiful solo voice and orchestra engage in a refreshing dialogue reminiscent of an aria from an Italian opera. In the Mass of the Nativity, Zelenka, who is also known as the "Great Bach of Bohemia," overwhelms us with the intricate and brilliant ensemble created by his superb counterpoint.Although both are religious works, Zelenka's music is full of sacred sounds and a constant atmosphere of vitality. The ensemble of Musica Florea and soloists under the direction of Streinzl is superb. This is a rare recording that should not be missed not only by Zelenka fans, but also by lovers of religious music! King International
