Description:

John Wilson & SOL New Recording! String Orchestra Works from Germany-Austria! John Wilson & "Sinfonia of London" continue to make great strides! This is a collection of German-Austrian string orchestral works centered on "Metamorphosen", which has won two BBC Music Magazine Awards ("Respighi: Roman Trilogy" [RCHSA5261/CHSA5261] and "Korngold: Symphony in F-sharp" [RCHSA5220/CHSA5220]), as well as a BBC Music Magazine Award for the "Symphony in F sharp" in 2021 [RCHSA5220/CHSA5220] and a BBC Music Magazine Award for "Metamorphosen" in 2021. 5220/CHSA5220]) and the worldwide acclaim of his first concert at the BBC Proms in 2021, John Wilson and his reunited "Sinfonia of London" are making remarkable strides.Following the release of the classic "British Music for Strings" (RCHSA5264/CHSA5264), which won the Presto Recordings of the Year 2021 and was nominated for the Gramophone Award 2021, the seventh studio album in a long line of releases, this time focusing on German & Austrian string orchestral works! Composed in 1945 as a reaction to the horrors of war and the desecration of German culture, Richard Strauss's Metamorphosen (Metamorphosis) is a return to the German Romantic tradition, with 23 independent solo string players creating meticulous variations. Metamorphosen (Metamorphosis)" is a masterpiece for strings in which 23 independent solo string players weave together a meticulous set of variations. The Symphonic Serenade, composed shortly before Korngold returned to Vienna from Hollywood after World War II to write the Symphony in F-sharp, creates vivid colors and textures with its large orchestra of 32 violins, 12 violas, 12 cellos, and 8 double basses.Together with the "Interlude," written before Schreker's fame in the German and Austrian opera houses in 1900, this concert will present a graceful string sound that fully demonstrates the high performance skills of each performer.
