The Doric Quartet, a British ensemble that won the first prize at the 6th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition and was acclaimed as "one of the finest young string quartets" by Gramophone magazine, is expected by Chandos to be the main artist of the next generation. Firmly established as one of the leading quartets of its generation, the Doric String Quartet's new project embarks on a journey through the string quartets of Mozart. The first Mozart project opens with the three "King of Prussia Sets" composed for King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia (King of the Prussians). For King Friedrich, who switched from viola da gamba player to cellist, the "King Prosha Quartet Set" shows the cello part playing an active role, freeing itself from a mere bass line and playing a wide range of melodies.The Doric String Quartet, which has earned an excellent reputation for its four Haydn quartets ("Solar Quartets (CHAN10831)", "Erdödy Quartets (CHAN10886)", "Third Tost Quartets (CHAN10971)", and "Russian Quartets (CHAN20129)"), will present a performance of Mozart's most beautiful works, including the "Mozart Quartet for Orchestra" by the Doric Quartet.
