The 5th volume of the Neve Trio! A collection of trios featuring French women composers! Described by BBC Music Magazine as "generous, heartwarming, and highly engaging," the Neave Trio is one of the finest ensembles of its generation. The name of the trio is "Neave Trio," which means "bright" or "sunny" in Gaelic. Their last album, "Memories of Music" (CHAN20167), featuring Rachmaninoff, Brahms, and Ravel, was nominated for the "Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance" at the 65th Grammy Awards in 2023. Her fifth album on the Chandos label, "Her Voice" (CHAN20139) follows on from the well-received "Her Voice" (CHAN20139), which combined the piano trios of three great women musicians who share a common thread of pioneering status and rights as female musicians, with a focus on French women composers.Lili Boulanger, a child prodigy born into a musical family in Paris, endured World War II in pursuit of music, and wrote "On a Spring Morning" one year before his death at the young age of 24, and its counterpart, "On a Sorrowful Night. Chaminade's Trio, which received critical acclaim at its premiere in Paris. Originally composed as a three-movement work by Tailleferre, one of the members of the French sextet, Chaminade was commissioned by the French Ministry of Culture in 1978 to re-create the trio with the addition of four movements. Ethel Smythe is the only non-French female composer featured on this album. The Trio is coupled with one of her early instrumental works, which was particularly influenced by Brahms. Tokyo M-Plus
