Bavouzet's beautiful Mozart 5th collection of 4 early piano concertos + overtures! Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is a giant star of French pianism. It started as a classical concerto collection following Haydn's concerto collection (CHAN 10808), and has been selected as a "Special Disc" by Record Art (Volume 1), "Concerto Choice" by BBC Music Magazine (Volumes 3 & 4), "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone Magazine (Volume 4), and so on. The fifth volume of Mozart's piano concertos has received solid acclaim. Volume 5 includes Mozart's first piano concerto, No. 5 (Nos. 1-4 are for arranged works), No. 6, No. 8, and No. 9, which are the first piano concertos in Mozart's original works. The set also includes five overtures to operas, performed by Hungarian conductor Gabor Takács-Názi, founder of the Takács String Quartet, and the Manchester Camerata, one of England's leading chamber orchestras. All of the works were written when Mozart was in his teens and early twenties, but they clearly reveal the special talent of a fully matured genius.As with previous Haydn and Mozart recordings, a YAMAHA piano is used in this work.
