Bartók's Violin Sonatas Vol. 2!■ With his "Concerto Collection" (CHAN 10690), which is a dual performance on violin and viola, and "Sonatas Vol. 1" (CHAN 10705), a colorful collection of two sonatas and two rhapsodies, he has shown the world his astonishing talent as a Bartók player. Canadian violinist James Ehnes is a genius. Aeneas plays Bartók's "Sonatas Vol. 2," a programming centered on "Sonata for Solo Violin" BB.124 from 1944, the last year of his life, and "Sonata in E minor BB.28" written in 1903 while he was a student at the Liszt School of Music. The violin versions of Hungarian and Romanian folk songs arranged by Szigeti, Székely, Ország, and the composer himself will give us a different look at the folkloric character of Bartók's music.
