Description:
Nämé Järvi's new series begins! A collection of orchestral works by Johan Halvorsen! Nämé Järvi, the don of the Järvi family, an Estonian musical family, has been releasing new recordings at a high pace and is as energetic as his sons, Paavo and Christian. The new series of his father Järvi's works, which will be performed in Chandos, is a collection of orchestral works by Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935), Norway's national composer, in collaboration with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra! Halvorsen was a highly respected violinist and conductor who was promoted from concertmaster to principal conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic, and in 1899 he was appointed conductor of the National Theatre of Kristiania. As a composer, Halvorsen is the heir to the Norwegian National Music School established by Grieg and Svendsen, and at the same time, his varied style is both distinctive and appealing, drawing on brilliant orchestrations reminiscent of French Romantic music. The first collection, which kicks off the series, includes five of Halvorsen's orchestral works, including "Admission of the Russian Lords," one of the most well-known of his orchestral works, and "Symphony No. 1," which is a rare recording. As if in contradiction to his abilities, Halvorsen's orchestral works, which have not been available on labels other than those of the composer's native Norway, will be brought to the stage by Järvi's baton!
