Description:

Coco Lagos' intense Latin jam "DESCARGAS," a masterpiece that will remain in the history of not only Peruvian music but all Latin music, is being reissued in analog form for the first time in a long time! Percussionist Coco Lagos, who emerged on the Peruvian music scene and played on many sessions for MAG, one of the country's leading labels established in the late 1950s, recorded this album as an answer to the "descargas" (jam sessions) that were becoming a major trend promoted by the Alegre All Stars and others in the US at the time. This album was recorded by percussionist Coco Lagos as an answer to the "death carga" (jam session) trend promoted by the Alegre All Stars and others at the time. The band consists of Coco Lagos on percussion, Alfredo Linares on piano, Carlos "Charlie" Palomares & Otto de Rojas on vibraphone, Mario Allison on timbales, Victor "Durasnito" Durando, a trumpet player from Chile, and Benny de Lagos on vocals. Vocalists Benny de Solar, Kiko Fuentes, and Cesar Gonzalez.Tumba Coco," which accelerates from a melancholy intro, and "Mamblues," a Cal Jader cover of the superb vibe of "Descargas," were released as the first songs on the album and attracted a great deal of attention, and "Descargas" was released in the summer of 1967. In addition to the preceding track, the album features a storm of killer Latin jams (descargas), including "Brava Pachanga," another Cal Jader tune, "Guajireate," which opens with a vibe intro, and the jazzy "Guaracha y Bembe. As the conga jacket symbolizes, this is a cult classic and the ultimate death carga classic.
