Montparnasse Musique balances two distinct sensibilities. Algerian-French producer Nadjib Ben Bella's passion for raw, organic beats and South African DJ Aero Manyelo's love of DIY synthesis in the digital realm. The daring fusion of traditional African acoustic sounds and modern Johannesburg sounds (gqom, kwaito, techno, afrohouse) is both fresh and processed. Together they create an electro-acoustic sound, full of infectious hooks and uncompromising authenticity. Collaborating with Congolese bands Kasai Allstars, Konono No1, Mbongwana Star, and Basokin, this debut EP features the tribal rhythms and mystical voices of the Kasai rainforest, along with the aggressive growl of handcrafted instruments from the urban wilderness of Kinshasa. The result is five great dance tracks enhanced with the refined precision of the EDM toolkit.As a result, this Congotronics-like sound has inevitably evolved into a sharp-edged, club-ready sound!
