The Orlando Consort, a male vocal quartet formed in 1988 at the National Centre for Ancient Music in England, has become the core project of the Orlando Consort, Volume 7 of Guillaume de Machaut's works! Donald Greig, once a member of Androux Curwood and now a member of the Tallis Scholars, sings with exquisite precision supporting the lower voices, and the group is the best of medieval polyphonic music. The Orlando Consort's current concert and recording centerpiece project is a performance of Guillaume de Machaut (c.1300-1377), the leading 14th century Ars Nova composer and poet.The seventh volume of the Machaut Project, which has received extremely high acclaim to date, including a Record Geijutsu Overseas Edition REVIEW "Special Disc of the Month," Gramophone Magazine's "Editor's Choice," a Gramophone Award nomination, and an ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) nomination, is (presumably) France's "The lion of nobility," a reference to King Jean II. The seventh volume of the Machaut project, titled "The lion of nobility," referring to King Jean II, features the Orlando Consort's high-quality ensemble singing works such as a lament for France's defeat at the Battle of Poitiers, one of the battles of the Hundred Years War.
