Orlando Consort's new recording! The Orlando Consort, a male vocal quartet formed in 1988 at the National Centre for Ancient Music in England. Donald Greig, once a member of Andrue Curwood and now a member of the Tallis Scholars, sings with exquisite voice supporting the lower voices, and the group is the best of medieval polyphonic music. Above all, the new recording by the Orlando Consort, which has gained international acclaim for its six-volume collection of Guillaume de Machaut's works, is music by Guillaume Dufay (c.1397-1474), a master of the Burgundian school of music who lived during the transition from medieval to Renaissance music, pioneering and transforming it. The program includes motets, chansons, ballades ("Ballata"), and rondeaux, beginning with "Lamentation for Constantinople (Lamentation of the Church of Our Lady of Constantinople)," the only extant work among the four laments Dufay is said to have composed in response to the fall of Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire in 1453.
