Sam Heywood Hyperion's Second Stanford Prelude Selection! Sam Heywood is a British pianist from Brisbane, Australia, who also duoed with Stephen Isserlis on his 2011 tour of Japan. Haywood, who made his Hyperion debut with a collection of piano works by Julius Isserlis, Stephen Isserlis' grandfather (CDA 68025), presents his second program, a collection of Stanford Preludes, a dedicated homage to J.S. Bach for all major and minor keys. With brilliant sensitivity and a sharp touch, Haywood plays 38 preludes selected from two sets of "24 Preludes," Volume 1 (Op.163) and Volume 2 (Op.179), 48 pieces in total, composed as a tribute to J.S. Bach, in all major and minor keys. Watch out for Stanford's Sam Haywood, a virtuoso who was awarded the prestigious Julius Isserlis Scholarship by the Royal Philharmonic Society of Great Britain and performs regularly with Stephen Isserlis, Joshua Bell, and others.
