Description:
Isserlis and Richard Eger! Gamba Sonatas by Bach and Handel! In concertos, "Prokofiev & Shostakovich (CDA 68037)" with Paavo Järvi and "Dvorak (CDA 67917)" with Daniel Harding. British national treasure Stephen Isserlis, who has successfully recorded sonata collections with renowned composers such as "Beethoven (CDA 67981/2)" with Robert Levin and "Grieg & Mendelssohn (CDA 68079)" with Stephen Osborne. Finally, a collection of J.S. Bach's viola da gamba sonatas with Richard Eger, a world-renowned master who has continued to lead the world of British ancient keyboard music! Isserlis and Eger have combined the three great sonatas for viola da gamba written by the great Bach with sonatas by Handel and Scarlatti, and placed Bach's chorales at the end to complete this exceptional collection of sonatas. This is Isserlis' first major Bach project since the release of the Suite for Unaccompanied Cello (CDA 67541/2) in 2007. Expect Bach, Handel, and Scarlatti, lovingly recorded by two of the greatest treasures of British classical music.Robin Michael, who plays bass in the Handel and Scarlatti sonatas, is the principal cellist of the Orchestre Revolutionnel et Romantique, founded by Gardiner, as well as a young virtuoso who has played with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Ancient Chamber Orchestra, ENO, OAE, and others. He also studied with Isserlis when he was a student at the Royal Academy of Music. Tokyo M-Plus
