Description:
The 51st Collection of Romantic Piano Concertos! Taubert & Rosenhain in 19th century Germany! Hyperion's Romantic Piano Concerto Series (RPC Series), which finally reached its 50th collection with the "special" Tchaikovsky (CDA 67711/2) played by Stephen Hough, has reached another milestone! The 51st collection, a new first step in the RPC series, is a collection of piano concertos by Wilhelm Taubert and Jacob Rosenhain, 19th century German musicians who lived in the same era as Mendelssohn, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Wagner, and Verdi! Born in Berlin in 1811, Wilhelm Taubert was active at the Royal Opera House in Berlin with Mendelssohn and Meierbeer, and was also a musician who demonstrated his ability in the field of education, and his talent was admired by Mendelssohn, who was a close friend of his. There is an anecdote that Schumann gave Taubert's "Piano Concerto No. 1," which was dedicated to his teacher Lothwig Berger and his sister and brother Mendelssohn, to Schumann's greatest admiration. The virtuosic "Piano Concerto No. 2" composed late in his career (around 1874) is an undiscovered masterpiece that rivals the music of the masters of his generation. Jacob Rosenhain, a pianist and composer born in Mannheim in 1813, established his reputation in Paris, France and London after his debut in Frankfurt. Rosenhain's "Piano Concerto," with its impressive first movement with its opening featuring bassoon, flute, clarinet, oboe, and horn, the second movement with its string section and woodwind section singing slowly, and the third movement with its lively piano solo as if it were liberated, demonstrates his great compositional skill in every part. Rosenhain's "Piano Concerto in D minor" is another masterpiece from 19th century Germany. Howard Shelley and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, who have become the core artists of the RPC series, have been entrusted with the performance of the 51st collection. This powerful duo with a solid track record will reveal the true value of Taubert and Rosenhain's little-known piano concertos! Tokyo M-Plus
