Garrick Ohlsson (1948-), winner of the 8th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1970 (2nd prize: Mitsuko Uchida), has recorded Beethoven's complete piano concertos for the first time in 24 years. The recording will be released. Performed at the Grand Teton Music Festival held every summer around Jackson, a town at the foot of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, U.S.A., this recording was made with Donald Runnicles (1954-), a renowned conductor who serves as the festival's music director. Ohlsson recorded the complete piano concerto (conducted by Michael Palmer) live at the 1998 Bellingham Festival in the U.S., and this is the first re-recording in 24 years.
