American composer Frank Ticheli has written many works for concert band, many of which have become standard brass band repertoire. He has also been a guest conductor at Carnegie Hall and has conducted at many prestigious universities and music festivals in the United States. He currently teaches at Southern Calfilnia University. The Jim Cullum Jazz Band was founded in 1962. The Jim Cullum Jazz Band was founded in 1962 and has performed with King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and other famous jazz players. The Dallas Wind Symphony was founded in 1985, and in its later years was directed by Frederick Fennell, the father of American wind music, and is one of the most popular and talented wind ensembles in the United States.Jerry Junkin currently serves as musical director and conductor.
