Eiji Oue, the first Japanese to take the podium at the Bayreuth Festival in 2005, recorded this collection of Respighi's works in 2001. Respighi's last ballet "Belkis, Queen of Sheba" is a large scale work with an ancient and exotic atmosphere. The great masterpiece "Pines of Rome" is performed with great intensity and expresses Respighi's brilliant orchestration.
