Born in Toronto, she is a 26-year-old up-and-coming mezzo-soprano. Emily has been a star on the opera stages of major opera houses around the world as well as a recital and concert singer. She has a wide repertoire and is known as an advocate of contemporary music. Unconventional and willing to push boundaries, Emily's contemporary approach to traditional opera is a powerful example of new music. enargeia" is a unique album focusing on female composers. It features recordings of works by four female composers, from Hildegard to Hidur. Emily's first inspiration was the medieval abbess Hildegard von Bingen. Here Emily sings in the latest arrangement by American composers Missy Mazzoli and Sarah Kirkland Snyder.The program also includes original works by Mazzoli and Snyder, as well as a charming vocal work by Oscar-winner Hidul Gudnadottir.
