Sir Georg Solti - Wagner: Götterdämmerung The final work of the great project started in 2022 to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth and 25th anniversary of the death of Sir Georg Solti, the conductor who was responsible for the first ever recording of Wagner's great work "Ring of the Nibelung" in its entirety in the history of records. This is the final work in a major project that began in 2022 to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the birth and 25th anniversary of the death of Sir Georg Solti. This is the first ever recording of the complete "Ring of the Nibelung" in the studio, completed by Scholte between 1958 and 1965, and the final installment of a total of four works! The singers, the orchestra, the performances, the recordings, etc., all emit the highest eternal brilliance even now, more than half a century after the recording. This 2022 remastered edition uses DSD masters produced in 2022 from the original stereo master tapes. Directed by Andrew Wedman, formerly of Emil Berliner Studios, the tapes were tuned with a Studer A820 machine, a Weiss AD converter, and a proprietary workstation that records the output. Some of the 38 original master tapes, the oldest of which were 65 years old, were in need of editorial repair and oxide stripping, but those in poor condition were successfully repaired by baking them at 55°C for 10 hours and newly mastered at a high resolution of 24bit/192kHz. Mastering was performed by DECCA engineer Philip Siney, who trained under engineer Jimmy Locke, who was involved in the original recording sessions in 1964 and 1965 and supervised two transfers in 1984 and 1997. Sophisticated tools for tape hiss and noise removal, such as iZotope RX-9 and CEDAR Retouch, are far more effective and less invasive than in previous programs, allowing the brilliant overtones of the Vienna Philharmonic brass and strings to be heard as never before SACD is Hybrid SACD version.12" (LP size) slipcase with 60-page booklet enclosed. 314x315x15mm Universal Music/IMS
