Isata's Debut Album Features Clara Schumann, a Woman Composer Whom She Admires Isata Canay-Mason, a pianist of the moment from England, sheds light on the world of Clara Schumann, who celebrates her bicentennial this year. Clara Schumann is a musical heroine of Isata's own, and this debut album brings her to life through the composition of a piano concerto she wrote at the age of 13. 22-year-old Isata is the eldest sister of cello superstar Sheku Canay-Mason, and is a graduate student at the Royal Academy of Music. She is a graduate student at the Royal Academy of Music. She was awarded the Elton John Scholarship and performed with Elton John in Los Angeles in 2013 and was a finalist in the piano category of the 2014 BBC Young Musicians Competition. As a soloist, Isata performs concerts in the UK and around the world, as well as with her brother Shek and Brymer (violin) as the Kanay-Mason Trio. Both Isata and Clara Schumann are piano prodigies and have large families. Isata is the oldest of seven siblings, and Clara had eight children. Universal Music/IMS
