Tower Records Limited Edition PressRepress of Ravel works by Kondrashin & the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra originally released on the former PHILIPS label, now available exclusively at Tower Records! This Kondrashin album was released in 2019 as a series of reissue CDs by Universal in the EU and was discontinued, and now we are able to offer this rare import as a limited number of re-pressings only for Tower Records in Japan. Originally, it was a live performance from 1970 to 1980, the year before his death, and was first released as an LP in 1984. After the CD era, it was reissued in 1993 as a live series of the same duo in a unified design, adding Gershwin's "An American in Paris" in addition to these four songs, and changing the order of recording (438 282-2). This reissue is a rare one, which has been sold at a high price in the used market. This reissue consists of the original four tracks, following the original release of the LP, and the jacket is also from the LP, so it is highly valuable as a reissue.Originally, there were eight different live series by Kondrashin and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on CD, but due to complicated rights issues, many of the pieces have been difficult to reissue with the exception of a few. It is not clear how the four Ravel pieces were suddenly reissued by Universal in the EU in 2019, but it appears that this was the only reissue of this album in its current state. Moreover, perhaps because it was released in the EU, it was only sold in some parts of Japan, so its existence itself was almost unknown to Japanese users, making it a phantom disc. The album was also discontinued soon after, so this request from Tower Records will bring the album to the Japanese market almost as a new release. This is a limited re-release, so please get it as soon as possible.
