The interesting program for the March 2016 concert in Japan is back!In 2002, the Russian female composer made her sensational debut at Carnegie Hall with her own performance of "Suite for Violin, Piano and Orchestra" composed for Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica, This is the first collaborative album by pianist Leela Auerbach and world-renowned viola player Kim Kashkashian. Auerbach was aware of Kashkashian's recordings and had noted her excellent performances even before meeting her at the 2010 Valbier Festival, and the meditative sonata on this album titled "Arcanum - Secret Medicine, Mystery" was also written for Kashkashian. Auerbach wrote this sonata for Kashkashuan. Auerbach said of this sonata, "We may not always verbalize or rationalize. We can seek answers to see the truth." He said. Shostakovich: 24 Preludes was also transferred to the viola for Kashkashian to perform.This work was originally for solo piano, but arrangements for violin and piano by Dmitry Zyganov have also been widely popular (although Zyganov arranged only 19 pieces; the remaining five were arranged by Auerbach in 2000). This performance of this unique collection of pieces of various character was given by the two musicians on a tour of Japan in March 2016, and this recording was made in Zurich in 2013 as a studio recording.
