Hélène Grimaud's new Beethoven album is available in limited edition (CD+DVD) and standard edition (CD only). This is her fifth album for DG. This is Grimaud's fifth album for DG, and the second Beethoven piano concerto recording, the first being No. 4 with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Kurt Masur. Just as last time it was paired with the piano sonatas (Nos. 30 and 31), this time it is coupled with Sonata No. 28 instead of the other concertos. Since Grimaud had already recorded Sonata No. 17 in "Credo," this means that four sonatas have been completed. Grimaud has always been active in German music such as Bach, Schumann, and Brahms, and his performance of Beethoven's Fourth Concerto has made him a world-renowned Beethoven player. The "Emperor" is the pinnacle of Beethoven's piano concertos, and this time, he will further demonstrate his affinity with this composer.The Staatskapelle Dresden, which performs with the Staatskapelle, is one of the most German orchestras among the increasingly internationalized German orchestras, with a full and warm sound that could be described as Germanic. The Staatskapelle Dresden is the perfect group to record "The Emperor" with. Also of note is the fact that the orchestra features Jurovsky as conductor. Since making his international debut in 1995, Jurovsky has been one of the most sought-after conductors in the world today. He has given numerous masterful performances at the Komische Oper in Berlin, and currently holds the position of principal artist with the Age of Inquiry Orchestra, alongside Ivan Fischer and Simon Rattle, and this year he will finally be appointed as the 12th principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he is making great strides in.
