Mitsuko Uchida, who has already completed a complete cycle of Beethoven's piano concertos with Sanderling, finally entered the recording cycle with the release of the composer's Piano Sonatas Nos. 31 & 32 in 2006. The second volume of this cycle consists of two pieces, including the large-scale "Hammerklavier". This is quickly followed by a collection of late sonatas. Almost all of Uchida's previous releases, including Mozart, Schubert, Debussy, and Schoenberg, have become her signature albums, and there is no doubt that this Beethoven series will be highly regarded as her new "face. This recording was made in advance of her performances of Nos. 28 and 29, which were performed in Athens, Stuttgart, and Berlin in April 2007, and will also be featured at the Caramoor Festival in the United States and the Salzburg Festival in Austria in August.In addition, he will appear in recitals at the festival over two evenings, performing all five pieces from the latter half of the festival. In the first recital, Schoenberg's "Three Pieces" is combined before this No. 28 and 29, which is typical of Uchida. (June 2007 information)[comments provided by Universal IMS].
