Forty years after his first standards album with Jarrett, Peacock, and DeJohnette, up-and-coming New York City pianist/composer Noah Haidu continues his tribute to the Keith Jarrett Trio with another full-length tribute to the New York City-based jazz pianist, Noah Haidu. Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, Haidu took classical piano lessons at an early age, but as a teenager he was drawn to blues, jazz, and popular music, and when he moved to New Jersey and Los Angeles for high school he studied jazz piano, guitar, and composition. He attended Rutgers University, where he studied with pianist Kenny Barron, and later moved to New York City. Noah Haidu is known for his style of incorporating melodic and energetic improvisation into his work. His groups regularly appear at New York live music venues such as Small's Jazz Club and Kitano Jazz, and he has garnered attention as a performer and composer through various projects, including his work as co-leader of the quartet Native Soul.The current album, Standards, commemorates the 40th anniversary of the release that launched Keith Jarrett's great standards trio and is a sequel to the album Slowly: Song For Keith Jarrett, also released on Sunnyside two years ago. The band is led by bassist Buster Williams, who continues to play on the previous album, Peter Washington, Lewis Nash, and guest saxophonist Steve Wilson. The beats of each member are woven together so beautifully and perfectly that it can be called a "beautifully heartfelt tribute.
