Description:

Jesse Harris, whose compositions and songwriting are among the best of our time, has released his long-awaited album "Seemed Like a Good Idea" in 2016, in which he teamed up with Petra Haden, who is descended from the jazz bass master Charlie Haden. In 2016, Jesse released "Seemed Like a Good Idea," a collaboration with Petra Haden, who is a descendant of Charlie Haden, and also contributed a song to Candice Springs, who has been praised by Prince. This is Jesse's first release in exactly one year. The basic line remains the same, in a good way, with a supreme pop sound that blends the organic comfort and urban sophistication that is typical of Jesse Harris! Folky, nostalgic, and yet dignified, the songs are naturalistic and yet manage to encapsulate conflicting sensations in the most exquisite way, luring the listener to a magical place with an irresistible allure. The music is reminiscent of the Van Dyke Parks "Song Cycle" of the 1970s. On the pop side, Jesse Harris himself sings "Talk to Me" and "Neither Old Nor Young," two songs he wrote for Candice Springs. The nostalgic M6, with its acoustic guitar and whispering voice, and M9, which conveys the atmosphere of New York City, are truly 100% Jessie's charm. However, along with such catchiness, every song is artistic! The opening track is reminiscent of Art Lindsay, who opened up a new world of Brazilian music; M2 combines 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures; M4 is music for the movie "Hello, My Name is Doris"; and M5 features Petra Hayden's chorus again. M5 features Petra Haden on the chorus. The originality of the strangely cool bossa sound of the song (M8), another collaboration with the genius John Zorn, is also noteworthy. This time, Maroon 5's Jason Ladar was invited as producer and bassist, and Jesse Carmichae, a member of the same group, joined with Star Rover members (Will Graefe, Jeremy Gustin). The 13 songs on this album are truly filled with the charm of Jesse Harris. You can't help but listen to them all at once, even the last song, an instrumental piece that he often performs live. You will find new discoveries and a sense of comfort no matter how many times you listen to this album.
