Based in the Netherlands and Belgium, the Chekhov Trio is an ensemble formed in 2016 out of a love for exploring the characters and roles that music can play. Characterized by an approach that treats chamber works like dramatic works, while also incorporating a historically informed performance method (HIP), the ensemble is gaining recognition both nationally and internationally. Their debut recording includes "Piano Trio in A Major" (world premiere recording) by Dutch composer Henriette Bosmans (1895-1952), "Trio on Irish Folk Songs" by Swiss composer Frank Martin (1890-1974), who was active in the Netherlands in later years, and "Piano Trio in A Major" (world premiere recording) by the Dutch composer Henriette Bosmans. The piano is inspired by the ideals of the 19th century. The piano is a parallel-string piano made by Chris Mahne, inspired by 19th century ideals, and offers a unique sound that combines the characteristics of both fortepianos and modern pianos.
