The Cadaqués Orchestra was founded in 1988 for a music festival in Cadaqués, a town near Barcelona, and is composed of concertmasters and principal players of major Spanish orchestras as well as musicians from prominent European orchestras. The orchestra is composed of concertmasters and principal players of major Spanish orchestras, as well as players from prominent European orchestras. Gianandrea Noseda (born in Milan in 1964) is the winner of the first International Cadaques Conducting Competition held by the orchestra (1994), and was appointed principal conductor shortly afterwards, a position he holds to this day. Noseda's rapid progress since then is well known.
