Description:
Beethoven's 9th appears grotesquely in the film music "Five Days and Five Nights" performed by Fedoseev! In 1996, Pony Canyon released a CD of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 15, and now, 10 years later, a concert he gave in Moscow in 2006 is available on CD. This is Shostakovich's last symphony, and although it is an enigmatic work that is not easy to follow, Fedoseyev, who lived in the same era as Shostakovich, has an interesting interpretation of it. Even more exciting is the fact that three pieces from the music of the 1960 film "Five Days and Five Nights" are performed: "Introduction," "Dresden in Ruins," and "Dresden Liberation. It is said that he visited Dresden to compose this piece and worked on it in parallel with his masterpiece String Quartet No. 8. Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" appears in "Dresden Liberation," but it is grotesquely deformed and shows Shostakovich's inflection. Fedoseyev's performance of this rarely heard work is sure to be a delight for fans of Shostakovich's music. King International
