There is no need to categorize this sound into genres. Kimmo Pohjonen is a musician who is leading the Nordic music scene today. He is an accordionist and dancer who also specializes in improvisation, and his performance in Japan in 2004 drew a great deal of attention for the tremendous energy he released. He has formed a unit with Pat Mastelotto (drummer for King Crimson), Samuli Kosminen (frontman for Sigur Rós, drummer for MUM), and other strong members to explore the possibilities of sound, and has held concert tours around the world, aiming to fuse sound and image. Pohjonen, who has been aiming for the fusion of sound and image, seems to have reached a new level of performance when he performed with Kronos SQ in Helsinki in 2004.The earth-rooted rhythms of the Kronos SQ and the accordion passages that leap lightly over them are like the buzzing of an unseen insect, while the amplified pizzicato brings to mind the unexplainable fear that we all have of being left behind in oblivion. For the sake of convenience, the music is divided into seven parts, all of which are closely related and full of ever-rising energy. It is not classical, traditional, rock, or jazz. ......
