Description:

Born into a German family based in Copenhagen, composer Klenau (1883-1946) made his name in Germany. His works are strongly influenced by Wagner, Bruckner, and Richard Strauss, and his Symphony No. 9, the major work of his later years, is also an extremely long and tonal music that rarely uses the twelve-tone music technique that was the mainstream at the time. Long missing after his death, it was discovered in 2001, and after another 13 years (during which time it underwent editing at the Royal Library in Copenhagen), it was finally given its world premiere in 2014 by Michael Schoenwandt and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
