Under the tutelage of High Records (home of Al Green and Ann Peebles) legend Willie Mitchell, Jay-Jay modernized his blues by working with local stars like Mighty Mo Rogers and Little Milton, especially on repertoire that was unexpected and Intelligence. On this album, Sting and Neil Young covers rub shoulders with the traditional 12-bar, and blues and pop music are in perfect harmony. Memphis is one of Jean-Jacques Milteau's finest works, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and is the first international vinyl reissue pressed by GZ in a wide-spin single sleeve jacket.
