Description:

Single CD of "Coronation Anthems" by Leading British Musical ComposersFor the coronation of the new King Charles III of England on May 6, 2023, a single CD of new songs written by the British composer Andrew A single CD of new songs written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, famous for his hit musicals such as "Cats," "Phantom of the Opera," and "Evita," will be released. This is the coronation anthem "Make a Joyful Noise," one of more than a dozen new compositions King Charles commissioned for the grand ceremony held at Westminster Abbey. Lloyd Webber said, "I was fortunate to be able to discuss the lyrics with His Majesty the King. We discussed the Book of Solomon, and I suggested including the message from Psalm 98, "Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord, the King. It seems very appropriate for the coronation. I played the initial score for the King a few weeks ago and also previewed the songs. I also composed a short opening and closing fanfare. The fanfare will be played by the Royal Air Force Fanfare Trumpet Corps. The anthem is composed for the wonderful Westminster Abbey Choir and the Coronation Orchestra, a band of eight orchestras from England and Canada that was formed for the coronation.
