Description:

Goltsberg Michael Keener, a Swiss harpsichordist born in 1950, is a veteran player under Leonhardt who plays with a full bass tone. After studying piano and harpsichord at the Geneva Conservatory, he went to Amsterdam to study with Gustav Leonhardt. He won the first prize at the Bruges International Harpsichord Competition. He has performed with Christophe Cowan, the Kuiken brothers, Ryo Terakabe, Il Giardino armonico, Il Gardellino, and others. 2019's recording of "The Mean Law" (PAS-1078) was another strong performance with presence, and the veteran has now recorded "Golberg". The harpsichord was modeled after one made by N. Blanchet in 1730 and manufactured by William Doud in Paris in 1978. The harpsichord has a powerful bass tone, and the Golberg is richly expressive.
