Composed in 1795, Haydn's "Mass for the Seasons" is also known as "Mass in Time of War," a work related to the wars of the Napoleonic era. It is also sometimes called the "Paukenmesse Mass with drums" because of the sudden burst of timpani in the "Agnus Dei" section.
