The master pianist Mieczyslaw Holczowski (1892.6.23-1993.5.22), who passed away in 1993 at the age of 101, was a child prodigy. A child prodigy from an early age, he performed with Casals and other greats, played chamber music, and devoted himself to educational activities at the Curtis and Marlboro music festivals. After reaching the age of over 90, he once again attracted great attention as a soloist, and continued to perform as an active pianist until nearly 100, making him a miracle performer. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his death, a video of his first solo recital held in Japan in December 1987 for the opening of the Casals Hall in Tokyo is now available on BD. Originally limited to 300 units and priced at 30,000 yen, the video was sold on VHS by TV Man Union and includes the entire concert program as well as an interview with Korshovsky.
