This album is the result of a project to broadly look at the genealogy of "nocturne" (piano music that sings sweet melodies over dispersed chords). This is a piece that pianist Katsushige Sato performs with lyrical poetry and brilliant technique, tracing the 150-year history of nocturnes, which were first written by Irish composer John Field, greatly developed by Chopin in Poland, and later spread from European countries to the United States.
