This is a complete recording of the wonderful ballet from Cervantes' famous novel Don Quixote. The story of the old knight who boldly takes on the windmill is a Spanish story that everyone knows, but this ballet is centered on the latter episodes of that story. This ballet is centered on the latter half of the story. It depicts the commotion that occurs in the town where Don Quixote and Sancho stop on their journey. Don Quixote's father tries to tear the two lovers who love each other apart through a political marriage, and Don Quixote, believing the woman to be Princess Dulcinea, whom he admires, chases after them as they elope. The windmill scene is nicely incorporated into the plot, but Don Quixote and Sancho do not dance. The main characters are the two young lovers. The highlight of this performance is the powerful dancing of the dancers, but you will also enjoy the costumes and the performances of Don Quixote and Sancho. Naxos Japan
